Diagnostics
Our diagnostic services allow us to get an in-depth look at your pet’s conditions.
We are proud to offer diagnostic tools that provide us with the best information to help your pets.
Digital Radiology
X-rays are extremely helpful for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. They are useful in examining your pet’s bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity, and other areas of the body. An X-ray can spot a fractured bone, detect tumors, help with the diagnosis of heartworm disease, or locate an obstruction or foreign body in your pet’s intestine or stomach. When used in conjunction with other veterinary procedures, X-rays can help accurately diagnose problems and make treatment faster and easier for your pet.
To provide your pet with the highest quality veterinary care in Tuscaloosa, Indian Hills Animal Clinic has invested in a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine. Here are important advantages of digital X-rays:
- They are immediately able to be viewed on a computer monitor.
- These clear, detailed images can be manipulated to get a better view of your pet’s bones and internal organs, leading to a faster and more accurate diagnosis.
- They take less time to process, which means less time for your pet on the X-ray table and less waiting time for you.
- No harsh chemicals are needed to develop the images, reducing potential harm to the staff and the environment.
If a second opinion is necessary, we send X-rays to the radiology departments at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Veterinary Surgery of Birmingham.
In-House Laboratory
At Indian Hills Animal Clinic, we perform complete blood counts, chemistry and electrolyte profiles, urinalysis, fecal exams, and cytology evaluations of many organs, plus other valuable tests. The hospital’s advanced veterinary laboratory gives us the ability to analyze how well your pet’s internal organs are functioning and allows us to follow up on treatment therapy. We perform diagnostic tests on avian pets as well.
Additional Diagnostic Testing
We offer veterinary electrocardiograms, laboratory services, blood pressure monitoring, gastrointestinal laboratory profiles, pet allergy testing with desensitization treatment, and microscopic evaluations that help evaluate both cytological changes and parasitic conditions in your pet.
